Braddy Promoting Success
Braddy Promoting Success is a whole school approach that involves students, staff, families, and the school community to create a safe and positive learning environment for all. BPS is underpinned by positive relationships and a consistent approach to teaching, acknowledging, and celebrating the expected behaviours and values here at Braddy.
Our 3 values at Bradfordville are Respect, Responsibility and Excellence. Under each of these values, there are expected behaviours for students to follow in the different locations around our school. These are outlined in our behaviour matrix and also on signage around the school. Each week, a behaviour target is shared with the school community via Facebook and this target becomes the focus of lessons in classrooms as teachers unpack what this expected behaviour looks like around the school.
Students are acknowledged for demonstrating these behaviours by receiving ‘Braddy Boosters’ which are collected by the student and put into their class tub. This class tub is emptied at our whole school Monday morning assembly into the ‘Booster Box’ and once the whole school reaches the target, a celebration is earned.
Students can also earn ‘Student of the Week Achievement Awards’ and ‘BPS Awards’ which will be handed out on Fridays during walkthroughs.
Red Ribbon Pins
Students at Bradfordville have the opportunity to earn Red Ribbon pins. This system is an accumulative reward system throughout a student’s time at Braddy.
Each stage has age appropriate statements of expected behaviours that students work towards demonstrating.
When students are consistently demonstrating these behaviours, a student can be signed off to receive their Red Ribbon pin for that school year. Each year, students receive a different coloured pin representing their scholastic year.
The red ribbon application needs to be endorsed by their classroom teacher, a familiar teacher to the student, the stage Assistant Principal and finally, the school Principal.
Year 6 Medallion
The Year 6 medallion is a prestigious award that reflects our motto “In Pursuit of Excellence”. This award honours Year 6 students who have shown exemplary commitment to demonstrating our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence throughout the time as a student of Bradfordville Public School.
Students who are considered for this award have achieved their Red Ribbon Pin each year, modelled exemplary behaviour and demonstrated aspirational qualities as a role model to their peers, is driven to consistently uphold our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence and is a school representative that all students, teachers and the wider community would be proud of.
Applications for the Year 6 Medallion will be considered by a school panel for endorsement.
Red Ribbon Assemblies
Throughout the year, formal assemblies are held in the hall to recognise those students who have received their Red Ribbon pins.
Parents will receive a special invitation via an email generated from School Bytes and families are invited to attend the assembly and a special morning tea afterwards to celebrate their child’s achievements.
Students who have received an invitation and are absent on the day of the assembly will have their red ribbon presented to them by the principal.
